Post 08: Civil and Courteous Discussion

The thing is with the world and people now these days is everyone has an opinion. While of course most of them do not agree. One person can believe one thing while the other believes the complete opposite. Therefore, it makes situations more difficult, especially when it comes to political matters. When one feels a certain way about a matter, when presented with something that does not align with their opinion, you run into the not so civil and courteous side of people. I have seen the nasty comments people make to each other when their opinions are different. It is absolutely insane in my opinion. But hey that is just another opinion, right? Imagine a law being passed that you are totally against while someone is for it. We have no control over the law and us complaining about it is not going to help matters. It is only going to cause more separation between people. Is it necessary for us as a society to cut down on each other because you believe in something else? Everyone is entitle...

Post 7: MLA style for academic documents discussion

Writing in general is already a daunting task for myself. When you start to have guidelines added in such as having to use a certain format like MLA style it becomes even more so then. Forming Proper MLA style for academic documents is an area I know that I need more work in. When it comes to the MLA format within my academic paper my biggest weakest is forming the cite page. I know that I must give the sources the proper credit. I know that when adding the citations, I need to make sure I put the author, the title, the publisher, the published date, the URL, the accessed date. The part I struggle with the most though is knowing what parts need to italic and which parts should not. I double guess myself and then I am at a point of uncertainty preventing me from finishing a correct work cited page. I intend to clarify my struggles with the work cited page in MLA format for my academic papers by doing thorough research on how a proper citation is formed and the aspects of it. I can also ...

Post 06: Analyzing The Primary Audience for Academic Paper

In the article Colorado State University's Writing Guide, it is said "Remember: Analyze your audience BEFORE you start writing, so you'll know what format, style, vocabulary, or level of information is expected." So, I know how important it is that I analyze my college teacher that is the primary audience for my academic paper before I begin writing. The Colorado State University's Writing guide informs us that "Once they know who their audience is, they can mold their advertising--their words, format, graphics, images--to appeal to that specific audience." Knowing that my primary audience is my English college teacher I know exactly who is going to be reading the academic paper. I know that they work in the profession, specifically already knowing how one should write for an audience properly. Therefore, they would hold higher educational standards to be expected when the academic paper is presented to them. I know that I would need to use formal prop...

Post 5: Professional Blog C.R.A.P. Test Analysis

Using the CRAP test to analyze the credibility of the professional blog that I follow allows me to evaluate the information in which is presented to me through the blog. The CRAP test stands for Currency, Reliability, Authority, Purpose. When evaluating the blog "A Day in the Life of a Postpartum Nurse" I can already see the purpose of this blog. I can see within that title that the blog is intended to tell someone what a day as a postpartum nurse is like. I can see that the author is a licensed nurse and practices as a postpartum nurse. This can confirm that she would be qualified to speak on behalf of someone to provide Authority as well as Reliability. She starts her blog article off by telling us that "My name is Sarah and I have been a postpartum nurse for about a year." The blog site shows the author as Sarah Cruzan, BSN, RN. Therefore, she would be qualified to speak on behalf of the daily life of a postpartum nurse as she is one personally. I personally fe...
