Using the CRAP test to analyze the credibility of the professional blog that I follow allows me to evaluate the information in which is presented to me through the blog. The CRAP test stands for Currency, Reliability, Authority, Purpose. When evaluating the blog "A Day in the Life of a Postpartum Nurse" I can already see the purpose of this blog. I can see within that title that the blog is intended to tell someone what a day as a postpartum nurse is like. I can see that the author is a licensed nurse and practices as a postpartum nurse. This can confirm that she would be qualified to speak on behalf of someone to provide Authority as well as Reliability. She starts her blog article off by telling us that "My name is Sarah and I have been a postpartum nurse for about a year." The blog site shows the author as Sarah Cruzan, BSN, RN. Therefore, she would be qualified to speak on behalf of the daily life of a postpartum nurse as she is one personally. I personally feel that using the CRAP test on this blog post shows that this blog would be considered reliable and fit well for the intended purpose.

We also see in the article from Dirk "When approaching a genre for the first time, you likely view it as more than a simple form: “Picking up a text, readers not only classify it and expect a certain form, but also make assumptions about the text’s purposes, its subject matter, its writer, and its expected reader” (Devitt, Writing 12). It's good to know the purpose of the topic beforehand, so you can have insight on what you're learning. And giving credit to those who wrote it.
